So cold storage came out this year and I’ve been sitting on this for a while, wondering if I should watch it or not. IMDB has the description like:
When a highly dangerous fungus escapes from a secret laboratory, a former bioterrorism agent is called back into action. Alongside two young employees, he must confront an invisible and out-of-control threat.
And me being a sucker for good zombie/virus movies, I was really tempted to dive in.
At first I was like okay this looks like an interesting movie, a mysterious death by the pay phone was a good start. Some big shot researcher is being called, assisted with trained soliders. Then viewing the blasted bodies on the roof had me hooked.
The virus being so adaptable that it could spread through the hardened heels of rough boots and within minutes it had spread through the poor aussie. Now I had assumed that since the virus was extremely deadly in nature, that the government would simply eradicate it.
But nooooo, humans and their dumb nature of being curious had gotten them soo much trouble in life. They took the sample, a highly adaptable sample, placed it underground in a secure (not soo much) facility ALONGSIDE other viruses??? Like really??? Are you making a cocktail or what??
At this point I was like this is a recipe for disaster but let’s see, maybe they’ll introduce some unique twists or something. And a twist there was, I thought they took the sample to study it but noooo, they just placed it on a cabinet, locked the door and was like “Yea the threat is secured”, like seriously??
The stupidity doesn’t end there, the biggest one that outshines all else is the fact that they sold the place off BUT kept all of those things still there.. *facepalm moment*

If you’re gonna abandon a highly dangerous area atleast bomb the shit out of it, why still keep it active and make it appear as a secret room that was bound to be discovered. AND EVEN WORSE they had a running water supply to the main contamination room that came directly FROM A NATURAL RIVER SOURCE. WHY??????? that’s sooo fucking stupid!! How could they not even think this through? Cold storage sure but WHY contain it in an abandoned place? Didn’t want the responsibility or didn’t think it was a danger, then get rid of it duhh..
But okay, let’s just say the military is only known for fighting and shooting people, and not for using their brains and intelligence. Why doesn’t Abigail inform the general that civilians called from within the point of problem and the virus escaped? I’m sure that call might’ve raised some alarms and they might mobilize some men to assess the situation. But no, we had to send an old man with a broken back to save the world, a dumb idiotic man who knew the risks, the potential fall out would be if the virus escaped and didn’t even think of raising alarms or having a whole team with him.
The hero syndrome is a curse. The fate of the world is at stake and you want to handle it alone with a shitty back?
Although I liked the part where he started the timer already, that was smart. For the greater good, some sacrifices had to be made.

The virus was not predictable in its timing. Some popped off real quick, and some took ages. And it was weird seeing that biker listening to the manager, I assumed the virus would’ve tried to attack or infect the manager but it listened like a real hostage.
And the other officer whatever her name was, she was supposed to come in an uber. Yet she stole her son’s car lol, why? If you needed to be there quick, then both of you should’ve come together. Showed off a great car and let it be destroyed in a nuke niceee…
All in all Cold Storage was just a dumb movie which I’ll probably forget about in an hour, I prefer Liam Neeson’s fighting movies over this green sludge but then again age is a factor.
